The Honourable Member of Parliament for Kanye South Mr Victor Phologolo visited the Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI) for a meet and greet session at the Kanye BITRI offices. He was briefed by the BITRI CEO Prof. Shedden Masupe accompanied by the Executive Director, Natural Resources and Materials Dr Mataba Tapela, on the mandate of BITRI, focusing more on projects in Kanye.  
 
In his remarks Mr Phologolo said he was grateful for the briefing but would like to have another sit down for a full briefing and make time to visit project sites. He said his office is open for collaboration to advance the mandate of BITRI for the betterment of his constituents and the country. He also said working together would also enable a harmonious working relationship to address the challenges that BITRI might be faced with where his constituency is concerned. He also elucidated that one of the main things the new government intend to focus on is human right. He went on to explain that Unions say workers’ rights are also human rights and the government agrees, but it should also be borne in mind that with all rights there are also obligations and responsibilities. Therefore “there is a need for mindset change to embrace change that might also come with challenges. Customer approach is key, so the quest is for people to review their contracts to be able to serve the customer who has rights to be met”. 
 
Honourable Phologolo urged BITRI to enhance its brand in Kanye so that the value of the organisation can be appreciated, adding that the institute should aim to earn the trust and confidence of the community.
