The Research and Partnerships Department (R&P) has responsibility for ensuring that BITRI research policies and guidelines promote a high-quality research environment and govern good research practice. The Department supports BITRI researchers to establish local and international partnerships, administer grants and contracts, manage institutional knowledge, and facilitate technology transfer and commercialisation of BITRI technology solutions.
In addition, the Department ensures that the BITRI brand is effectively marketed and that the organisation’s excellent research outputs and their impact on society and the economy are clearly communicated.
The Department houses the Communications and Partnerships, Knowledge Commons, and the Technology Transfer Office.
Communications and Partnerships
The BITRI Communications Unit is the custodian of the BITRI brand and is responsible for safeguarding all communication matters within the organisation. The Unit oversees stakeholder relations, corporate communications, information dissemination, media relations, and media monitoring.
The Communications Unit manages all public relations matters, ensuring that BITRI’s brand identity is clearly and consistently conveyed and that messaging effectively reaches the appropriate stakeholders.

Technology Transfer Office (TTO)
The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) comprises the Intellectual Property and Business Development sub-units under the Department of Research and Partnerships. The Office is responsible for implementing the BITRI Institutional Intellectual Property Policy and the Innovation Management Framework (IMF).
The TTO ensures effective transfer and commercialisation of all intellectual property generated by BITRI through research and development activities.
