Position: Board Member
Ms Lorato Cordelia Matsheng has been appointed Board Member of the Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI) with effect from the 1st of July 2025.
Ms Matsheng is a seasoned executive and a thought transformational leader with over 20 years of multi-sectoral experience significantly contributing and adding remarkable value in building both the internal and external quality management ecosystem. She is currently Director, Quality Assurance and Enhancement at Botswana Accountancy College (BAC). Ms Matsheng’s professional career journey includes impactful tenures at the Botswana Qualifications Authority and the Ministry of Education, where she played a pivotal role in shaping national quality assurance frameworks, overseeing compliance of education and training providers, and contributing to economic empowerment through training and capacity building. She has immensely contributed to regional capacity-building efforts, particularly in the development and roll-out of the International Labor Organization (ILO)’s entrepreneurship global programme. Her breadth of experience spans strategic management, quality assurance, institutional governance, and educational policy development. Her career has been anchored in public service, higher education, and regulatory environments where she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence, compliance, and sustainable development.
Ms Matsheng holds a Master of Science in Strategic Management and currently pursuing a PhD in Economic and Management Sciences, specializing in Business Administration – Entrepreneurship. Her academic grounding is complemented by specialized certifications in Quality Assurance in Education, Project Management (PRINCE2), Enterprise-Wide Risk Management and Research and Innovation amongst others which have equipped her with a holistic view of organizational performance and transformation.
Ms Matsheng is also a member of several professional networks including the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa, the Southern African Quality Assurance Network (SAQAN), Southern African Registered Universities Association (SARUA) and a Southern Africa Auditor & Training Certification Authority (SAATCA)-certified Quality Management Systems Lead Auditor. These affiliations keep her grounded in current trends, best practices, and collaborative engagements across the region and globally.
